StepClad is a concrete stair restoration system: new treads and risers in ultra-high-performance concrete, cast as one piece and fitted over exterior steps that are cracking, spalling and failing — no demolition, no weeks-long closure.

The problem
Exterior concrete steps fail from the surface down — freeze-thaw, salt and wear open up the top inch while the structure underneath is still sound. Replacing the whole stair means demolition, closures and cost far beyond the stair itself.
The system
An all-in-one tread-and-riser overlay, roughly half an inch thin, with the drip edge cast in. It goes over the existing stair, preserves the structure, and brings the geometry back to true — cladding, not patching.
The material
The same Ductal® UHPC we cast feature stairs in — developed for bridge components, several times stronger than ordinary concrete, and made to outlast the stair it covers.
The Neptune stairs, Hatley Park
At Royal Roads University, StepClad restored the Neptune stairs on the grounds of Hatley Park — a National Historic Site of Canada — installed by Orca Masonry over the existing structure.
That is the system doing exactly what it was designed to do: a heritage setting where demolition was never an option, resurfaced in a material rated for generations.
